Vocea Chișinău .eu – the European diaspora edition

Nearly half of Vocea Chișinău's readers live in the European Union, and Google treats a .eu domain differently from a .ro one when deciding what to show users in Italy or Germany.

We built a multi-site architecture in which voceachisinau.eu automatically picks up articles from the main newsroom but adds its own sections: practical guides for the diaspora, events of Moldovan communities across Europe and a consulate calendar. Syncing runs through an internal API with content deduplication and correct hreflang tags, so the two domains never compete against each other in search results.

On the infrastructure side, both sites share the same database cluster but have separate caching and CDN layers, with individual certificates and monitoring. We also set up separate Search Console reports for every target country to track precisely what works in each market.
